Bunanza Rabbit Rescue is a small rabbit rescue located in Ferndale, Washington. Through our network of volunteers, fosters, and adopters, over 1000 rabbits have found their forever homes!

Our Mission is to provides safe shelter to domestic rabbits until they are adopted out into loving homes, while also seeking to educate and promote the importance of spaying/neutering and proper rabbit care in our community.

Where We Began

Living out in the country unfortunately means that sometimes people abandon animals out there and leave others to deal with the consequences.
Reuben, a beautiful Californian (black ears, nose and feet, white body) was dumped as a starving post-Easter teenager bun and found hiding under my deck.
About a month after that, I caught Fluffernugget, a severely matted French Angora (unimaginable amounts of spider-web soft fawn and cream fluff) who was running down the middle of a highway.
Rabbits were new to me, but I fell in love with them both and started learning everything I could about how best to care for them.
I started posting photos of my bunnies and what I was learning about these heart melting critters. I also looked for, and found rabbit groups online and befriended other local lagomorph lovers.
Soon people were messaging me: I found a bunny, what do I do? I can't keep my rabbit, what do I do? I want to adopt a bunny, what do I do?
So I researched what it might take to start a rescue and brainstormed with my rabbity friends. After a year of prep work, including the building of a dedicated Bunny Barn on our property, Bunanza Rabbit Rescue Ranch and Adoption Center was born!
Now, more than 10 years later, I've retired and stepped away from active rescue, but the rescue, these days known more simply as just Bunanza Rabbit Rescue, has found a new physical home and continues the mission of caring for rabbits in need, and finding good permanent homes for bunnies, all of them spayed/neutered and litter trained.
Since the days when I first met Reuben and Fluffernugget, Bunanza has helped well over 1000 rabbits get adopted. Those two small bunnies had, and continue to have, a BIG positive impact. Good job, guys!

Where We Are Now

In June 2025, we moved our rescue location to Ferndale, Washington and continue to care for and adopt over 80 rabbits per year. We have an amazing team of volunteers who care for our rabbits 365 days per year.
