Our Volunteer Board
Meet the Bunanza Board! Our volunteer team works around the clock to help domestic rabbits in the community.

President
Mychal Dobkins
Born in March, it’s no surprise that Mychal has always had a soft spot for rabbits! She even still has her very first rabbit stuffed animal. Mychal’s rabbit journey began at age eight with a dwarf bunny named Stumpy and continued through college with Neptune and Luna, who are forever honored with tattoos. A few years later, Juniper hopped into Mychal’s life after being found during a wedding reception at just three weeks old. Juniper became her first rescue bunny and sealed the deal on a lifelong passion for rabbit rescue. After moving back to Washington in 2022, Mychal and her husband got involved with Bunanza Rabbit Rescue right away! They’ve since adopted three Bunanza bunnies, and Mychal helps facilitate adoptions, bunny speed dates, and grooming. With an educational background, Mychal also supports volunteer training and is active in educating schools and communities in proper rabbit care. She loves being hands-on to help every bunny find the right match and a forever home!

Treasurer
Amber Bromet
Amber holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and brings a background in leadership to her role as a Volunteer and Board Member at Bunanza. While new to the nonprofit world, she enjoys applying her administrative skills in support of the rescue’s work. Her passion for rabbits began during a challenging season of life, when she and her husband welcomed a rabbit into their home and quickly fell in love (now rabbits, plural 🙂). What started as volunteering for a bit of animal therapy soon became her favorite part of the week and ultimately led to deeper involvement with Bunanza. Amber is grateful for the opportunity to combine her professional experience with her love for rabbits and help be a part of Bunanza’s amazing mission to care for and advocate for rescued rabbits.

Secretary
Mika Tamaki
Koji(volunteer and "bun-dad") and Mika are a husband-and-wife team that serve as volunteers at Bunanza Rabbit Rescue. Mika is also the current Secretary of the Bunanza Board of Directors. Their lifelong love of animals and fateful encounter with an abandoned bunny (who they ended up adopting) led them to Bunanza, where they began volunteering, adopted their second bunny, and later on Mika joined the Board. At home, Koji and Mika are the proud "bun-parents" of their two beloved rescue rabbits, Momiji and Yukimaru. They feel honored to help guide Bunanza’s mission, ensuring every rabbit receives the care, advocacy, and second chance they deserve. Mika and Koji would love nothing more than finding loving forever homes for every bun!

Board Member
Holly Stephenson
Holly has always had a deep love for animals and a strong belief in advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves. She works full-time in healthcare, where compassion, patience, and service are central to her work - values that strongly align with her involvement at Bunanza. Her journey with Bunanza began when her daughter volunteered at the rescue during middle school to earn school credit. What started as supporting her daughter quickly grew into a personal passion. Inspired by the dedication of the volunteers and the incredible care provided to the rabbits, she became more involved and has now been volunteering with Bunanza for almost two years. During this time, Holly and her daughter have adopted 4 rabbits - currently Lightning, Masha and Toby live their best bunny lives with them.

Board Member
Laura Halbert
Laura has always loved animals and has shared her life with many different kinds of pets, but bunnies truly sing to her heart. Her Bunanza journey began when she brought her own rabbit, Yeti, to a grooming lesson with our founder, Liz, sparking a passion for rescue, education, and advocacy. With a bachelor’s degree in Global Business and a strong background in marketing, she brings creativity and organizational experience to her work as a volunteer and board member. Laura and her husband, Casey, are also dedicated foster parents, providing rabbits in need with a safe, loving place to heal and prepare to hop into their forever homes. Outside of the rescue, Laura enjoys caring for pets throughout her local community and runs her own pet sitting business, Hare & Hound NW.
